About RAF Lyneham
Royal Air Force Lyneham was, until 2011, home to the RAF’s Tactical Air Transport Force - the Hercules aircraft. On 31 May 2011, a parade was held, attended by the Princess Royal to mark the departure of the squadrons. In July 2011, after the Ministry of Defence reviewed its basing and estate requirements, and informed by the findings of the SDSR, the Secretary of State announced that the Defence Technical Training Change Programme (DTTCP) will make further use of RAF Lyneham.
The majority of Lyneham's personnel and other assets will move to RAF Brize Norton.
